Safety Harbor Townhomes Construction Schedule Set

Last week, city commissioners gave devloper and former mayor Kent Runnells 21/2 years to begin construction on Harbor Key Townhomes. The 2.6 acre community will sit 50 feet above sea level at the northwest corner of Oak and Main in Safety Harbor. The 2 story homes will feature 2650 square feet, 4 bedrooms 3.5 baths and 2 car garages. The architecture will be Key West inspired with metal roofs, and open living spaces.

Runnells mus start building the first 8 units within 2.5 years. He has 3 years for an additional 10 units, and 5 years to complete the community. Runnells says he will need to sell 8 units before construction can begin. The city originally approved the development in 2006, then granted an extension in 2007. He must start building the next 10 dwellings within three years.
