Unfinished Ocean Glen Condo Project Will Be Razed

The city of Indian Rocks Beach will raze the abandoned Ocean Glen at Waterside condo project located at 601 Gulf Blvd. Removal of the partially completed construction will begin this month, and the lot will be reseeded in the spring.

The city reached an agreement with the owner for the demolition. The city holds $24k in escrowed funds from the owner and will reimburse itself $2,700 for mowing fees and upkeep. The estimated cost of the entire project is $24,150. The owner remains responsible for any additional cost. Construction may begin again under the original PUD agreement, however the agreement expires this October.

Last year, the Indian Rocks Beach city manager issued a demand letter to the project manager of Ocean Glen asking that, “The structure’s verticals and slab be torn down and that the property be returned to a neutral state.” The condo project has been stalled for years and has been called “Stonehenge” by residents.
